New offices and expansion plans

March 2015

Despite constant reports of global downturn Barnfather wire have continued to develop and invest to ensure that we are around long into the future to service both longstanding and new clients.

Following the purchase of assets from 2 closed businesses in Belgium and Luxembourg we have added 4 new German drawing lines with coiling equipment to suit any type of pay off system. In particular we have been pleased to add 3 new spooling units which allow us to offer wire in traverse or (cheese) wound format. Diameter range from 3.80mm to 12mm.
The factory is also having a totally new layout with full in line production flow from raw material storage to finished goods warehousing.

We have also moved in to brand new office facilities at the opposite end of our site connected directly to the factory. Modern and furnished and finished to a high standard the space set over 2 storeys has created a great working environment for our staff and we receive great feedback from visiting clients and suppliers.

The development and expansion plan will continue over the next 12 months making sure that we are well placed within the UK market to provide exactly what our customers need.

Trevor Dalley - Retirement.

Following a glittering career spanning 5 decades the “Peter Pan” of the wire trade finally came of age.

Friend’s colleagues and family gathered at the Red Lion - Bobbington to wave good bye to one of the trade’s longest serving and well liked characters Mr Trevor B Dalley. (Not sure what the B stands for)

Following 15 great years developing sales at Barnfather Wire and lengthy spells with other well-known wire related companies such as John Pring, Stride supplies and Beldray, Trev finally packed away his micrometer for the last time. Well known throughout the wire industry Trevor has built long standing friendships with many customers that I am sure will carry on in retirement.

His colleagues however put up the bunting after he left!!!!!!

Just joking ! His wicked sense of humour, cheeky grin and laid back outlook to life is already missed.
As a fitness fanatic and golf addict we believe that his week is already filled and at the young age of 68 he had developed a 6 pack! Unbelievable.

All the very best and thank you for helping to make the working days so enjoyable Trev.

From all of your colleagues at Barnfather Wire.

November 2011

The 31st October 2011 marked the end of an era with the early retirement of “Young Les Smith”.
With a career spanning almost 40 years in steel and wire, the day finally came for Les to hang up his “micrometer”.
Les plans to spend a month or two with family in Spain before returning to a major “gardening” (Golf course) project in the new year!
His great sense of humour and vast knowledge of steel is already being missed in the office.
Good luck and best wishes Les from all your colleagues and friends at Barnfather Wire and throughout the trade!

Following the retirement of Les Smith Sue Panter has taken on further commercial responsibilities with the management of many of our Key accounts.
Sue has also coordinated our new CRM system that is helping us to track and monitor our customers wire requirements more closely so that we can further enhance our service.

We would also like to welcome a new addition to the sales team with the appointment of Tim Dalley.
With a background in the fabrication of industrial heaters this will mean an exciting new challenge and change of direction for Tim.
Following an initial “In a the deep end settling in period” Tim will be involved in the management and development of new and existing sales.
Tim can be contacted by email at the following address tim@barnfatherwire.co.uk or on 0121 526 2880.
