Barnfather Wire Supplies Poppy Stems for the Tower of London

In November 2014, Barnfather Wire Midlands became part of a truly inspiring project. The company was approached to manufacture a substantial volume of wire, which would eventually be used for the creation of the breath-taking display of nearly 900,000 poppies at the tower of London, paying tribute to the fallen soldiers.

Barnfather Wire rose to the occasion and took immense pride in being part of this spectacular display, which captured the heart of the nation and generated widespread interest.

The production of the poppy stems required an impressive 100 tonnes of bright mild steel wire and took a dedicated team, two weeks to complete.

Utilising our state-of-the-art Wafios cutting machinery, Barnfather Wire meticulously crafted stems of three different lengths: 450mm, 750mm and 1000mm. The stems needed to be produced with exceptional quality and precision to ensure the success of the display.

Owner and founder, Richard Barnfather said “we are honoured to have played a part in this inspiring project. It is with great pride that we contributed to this display which has become a symbol of remembrance for the entire nation’.

The collaboration between Barnfather Wire Midlands and the Tower of London stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to excellence, our ability to rise to any challenge and contribute to projects of national significance.
